Blog Action Day Is Here
By Joshua Levy, 10/15/2007 - 2:07pm

A small group of bloggers have teamed up to produce Blog Action Day, encouraging bloggers from around the world and the web to blog about a single issue.

This year’s issue — the first for the project — is the environment. To participate, bloggers can do one of two things: either post something about the environment, or donate their day’s earnings to an environmental charity.

The project is organized by Collis Ta’eed of Eden Creative Communities (who also donated web hosting, web development, and marketing costs); Leo Babauta, who blogs at Lifehack.org and Web Worker Daily, among others; and Cyan Ta’eed, editor of Freelance Switch, a blog about, er, working as a freelancer. Blog Action Day is structured as a non-profit, and they envision a revolving set of organizers every year, pulled from the infinite depths of the blogosphere.

It’s easy to do your part, and this is a great way to illustrate how blogs can work together to bring attention to social issues.
